The New Orleans Youth Master Plan is Launched for Action!

WHAT IS THE YOUTH MASTER PLAN?

The Youth Master Plan is New Orleans’ opportunity to build youth leadership and create a plan that sets the stage for all children and youth to achieve their full potential. The plan is one-stop roadmap for all to see where our city’s youth are going and how they are going to get there.

The Youth Master Plan brings together young people, parents, educators, community leaders, and other key stakeholders. The plan covers the next ten years (2020-2030) and it will include all the sectors of our community that have responsibility for improving the future of children and youth, birth to 24 years, across Orleans Parish.

HOW IS THE PLAN DEVELOPED?

Phase 1 – Aspirational Solutions

The Youth Master Plan was released in December 2020, with Issue Statements, Goals, and Solutions for each Youth Master Plan area–Health & Well-Being, Space & Place, Economic Stability, Safety & Justice, Learning, and Youth Voice–co-created by youth, community, and sector leaders. Explore Phase 1 of the Youth Master Plan here.

Phase 2 – Action Steps & Metrics

Youth Master Plan Action Tables convened March 2021 through June 2021 to develop the action strategies that deliver on solutions outlined in Phase 1 of the plan.  The six tables are populated by 10-15 experts connected to the table category–Youth Master Plan areas–per their expertise, work, role, etc. Explore Phase 2 of the Youth Master Plan here.

Phase 3 – Data-Sharing & Accountability

Once action steps and metrics are built out, the action strategies will be implemented and monitored. The Youth Master Plan will store and share data to track progress towards goals over time, initiate participatory evaluations of the plan, message on progress and needs, and course-correct as needed.
